At Leather Guru, we’ve been professional leather furniture cleaners for over 25 years.

In recent years, due to customer demand, LeatherGuru have also been offering our Leather Colour Change service or leather sofa re-dye service.  For expert leather upholstery colour change, LeatherGuru are the pro’s, covering Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, London and the surrounding areas.

At LeatherGuru, we provide quality, service and value for money.  LeatherGuru professional Leather Colour Change service –  our knowledge and expertise are second to none.

Why change the colour of your leather? There may be several different reasons; for example, it may be that your leather sofas are still in great condition but in an unfashionable colour.  Or perhaps you’re restoring a classic car and want to update or improve the interior.

However, the best reason of all is cost.  A new leather suite or reupholstering your leather car seats can cost many thousands of pounds.  Changing the colour of an existing leather sofa or car interior will cost significantly less than this, whilst leaving a surface essentially the same as the original factory finish, giving you many more years of use.  Contact us for more information on our professional Leather Colour Change service.

Our Professional Leather Re Dye Service...

Red Designer Sofa - Before Re-Colour

Our customer had purchased a designer sofa which they loved. Unfortunately it was in red, whilst their kitchen (where the sofa was going to live) had pinks in it. We created a few shades of pink for them to choose from and then dyed their leather sofa to their specification.

Red Designer Sofa - After Re-Colour

We worked with our customer to produce several different shades of pink on leather swatches to ensure that they would be totally happy with the final colour. Due to the value of the sofa, it was essential to retain the identifying designer labels etc during the recolour process.

Corporate Leather Sofa - During Re Dye

Our customer commissioned us to re dye a sofa to his corporate colours for use as a promotional item in his reception area.
We located a suitable sofa and then colour matched to his corporate branding colours.

Corporate Leather Sofa After Re Dye

This job was particularly challenging as the client requested we incorporate their company logo into the leather re colour. This was achieved using a stencil and re colouring the leather in white over the background colour.
The result worked really well and has become a talking point for his branding company.

Brown Leather Sofa - Before Dye

Our customer had 2 matching brown leather sofas in great condition. The only problem was, they no longer matched her newly decorated room. We matched colour to a dulux swatch she provided

Brown Leather Sofa Dyed Grey

The colour on this job came out great. What a change! Challenging areas were the piping and folds in the leather around the arms. It's very important to ensure colour gets into all the little crevices etc or the job just won't look right.

We can usually change the colour of most types of leather.  The most common leather colour change that we come across is for pigmented leather (the most common leather used for car seats and domestic leather upholstery). It generally responds extremely well to being recoloured or dyed with very good results.  Another, less common leather finish that we see is called aniline or semi-aniline finish.  Because the surface of aniline leather is essentially unsealed and porous, it tends to get damaged by spillages and soiling, leaving it unsightly to look at and difficult, if  not impossible to clean.

If this has happened to your aniline leather upholstery, we may be able to help with a our leather re-dye service.  The process essentially turns your aniline leather into a pigmented leather.  It will change the look and feel of it (and so we will need to discuss your expectations in some detail), but may be an option to consider rather than having to replace it.

When we initially speak with you, we will discuss and identify what type of leather you have and advise accordingly on what professional leather colour changing results are achievable.

What Types Of Leather Can We Colour Change?

Most of our customers who discover our dye leather sofa service tell us that they didn’t even know it could be done.

There are all sorts of reasons to consider our Leather Colour Change.  The most common is that you have the right sofa in the wrong colour.  Perhaps you can’t find a replacement that fits in your room as well as the current sofa.

We can colour change leather from any colour to any colour.  White to black, black to white, and anything in between.

Give your unloved leather sofa a new lease of life with a leather colour change from LeatherGuru.  All work is covered with our 12 month warranty.

Our Five Step Leather Colour Change Process...

Step 1. Deep Clean And Prep Surface

Before any leather dye change can take place, an essential part of any leather colour change project is the preparation. First we deep clean all surfaces and remove existing seal finish to provide the best surface for the new colour.

Step 2. Repair Existing Damage

There is nearly always some pre-existing damage to the surface of the leather from general use and wear and tear. Scratches, scuffs and nicks etc are inevitable. Before any colour is applied to the leather, we will repair and fill as necessary* (*results of repairs will of course vary depending upon the severity of the issue - we will discuss this with you prior to any work taking place).

Step 3. Apply New Colour

Now for the best bit! Applying the new leather colour. Depending upon the logistics of the area where we are working on your item, we will use a combination of methods to apply leather colour, including spray, roller and sponge.

Step 4. Apply Factory Seal

Once several coats of leather dye have been applied, it is vital that the surface is then sealed to protect the leather. The seal is identical to that originally applied at the factory. You can choose anything from matt to gloss finish.

Step 5. Customer Sign Off

Once completed, we will invite you to inspect our work and ensure that you are satisfied. Please also remember that even after we leave, you are covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee and 12 month warranty. If you are not satisfied with any part of our service, we will happily return and put things right until you are!
